About Us
New Living Yoga emerged from the Newcastle Yoga Centre which began operating as a yoga centre in the mid 1980s. After more than 20 years and with a change in direction for the owners, Coralie Properjohn (Sannyasi Agnimudra) took over the role of Principal and New Living Yoga started operating out of the Newcastle Centre in February 2008.
What is Satyananda Style Yoga?
At New Living Yoga we teach Satyananda style yoga, a style of yoga named after Swami Satyananda who adapted the ancient yoga practices specifically to meet the needs of modern society. We have attempted to maintain the ideals and spirit of Swami Satyananda’s teachings by teaching yoga systematically and progressively. The steady progression of levels allows students to develop over time and at a pace that suits the individual’s particular needs and capacity. Students are encouraged to practice in a steady and sustained way. We believe consistent, committed practice is the way to really gain the benefits that yoga has to offer. Our classes include yoga postures (asanas), breath-work (pranayama) and yoga nidra (deep relaxation).
